and tips on how to advance your music career from the point of view of a talent
agent. Carlos Keyes has spent his entire life in the entertainment industry.
Born and raised in New York City, Mr. Keyes began performing at an early age,
and during the 1980s he was part of the hit-making duo Babie and Keyes. After
many successful years working as a performer in the industry, Carlos Keyes
shifted his focus to the business side. Today, he serves as the President of
Red Entertainment Agency, one of the leading talent and booking agencies in New
York City.
Carlos Keyes got his start in the talent industry as an International Booking Agent
with Pyramid Entertainment, where he oversaw all international show bookings
for a roster that included pop stars such as Gladys Knight, Kool & the
Gang, and Men at Work. He left Pyramid Entertainment in 1999, and in 2001 he
founded American Talent Agency with a partner from his Pyramid days. His
experience with American Talent Agency taught him what it took to run a successful
agency, and in 2002 he founded Red Entertainment Agency. Under his direction,
the company has grown into one of the premier agencies in the industry,
representing mega-selling artists such as Chaka Khan, Cutting Crew, and Dionne
Warwick.
Carlos
Keyes has developed and organized a number of successful tours and festivals
with Red Entertainment, including the Regeneration Tour. This wildly popular
20-city tour featured artists from the 1980s, including Belinda Carlisle, The
Human League, ABC, Naked Eyes, and A Flock of Seagulls. In addition to his work
in the entertainment field, Carlos Keyes is committed to giving back to the
community. During his free time, he serves as a Committee Member of the
Cristian Rivera Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to finding a cure
for diffuse pontine glioma, aggressive brain tumors that primarily affect
children.
